Bank of America keeps 10 branches in Fresno, Fresno County, 6th of the 50 CA cities in this guide, out of 686 statewide. CA consumers have filed 37,169 CFPB complaints against it, 6,539 of them since January 2025. One customer's experience, mine, set beside what the bank measurably looks like in Fresno.

Bank of America's footprint in Fresno

Bank of America has 10 branches on file with the FDIC in Fresno in Fresno County. That is 1.5% of the 686 BoA branches across CA, spread over 39 CA counties in total, and it ranks Fresno 6th of the 50 CA cities covered in this guide. They sit across 9 different ZIP codes, so "your" branch and the next-nearest one are not necessarily the same errand.

At 10 locations, in-person service is realistic here: notarisation, cashier's cheques, medallion signature guarantees and disputed-transaction paperwork can all be done locally, and if one branch will not resolve something you can simply walk into another. That second branch is usually the cheapest escalation available before a formal complaint.

Branch counts are Bank of America locations on file with the FDIC (certificate 3510) under each city label; New York City and its boroughs are counted by FDIC county. Postal city labels do not always match municipal boundaries, so treat a zero as "none on file under this city label".

How long Bank of America has been in Fresno

Bank of America's Fresno footprint is not all one vintage: the oldest office on file dates to 1916, the newest to 1994, 78 years apart. The early end of that range is inherited banking history at 2513 Fresno St (an establishment date follows an office through mergers) rather than Bank of America's own tenure in Fresno.

Those branches are spread over ZIP codes 93702, 93704, 93705, 93711 and 93720 and 3 more. Queues, staffing and how much a manager will authorise are not uniform across Fresno: 2513 Fresno St, 4445 E Tulare St and 5292 N Palm Ave are separate offices with separate managers, so a refusal at one of them is that counter's answer and not Fresno's.

Practically, a Fresno footprint assembled between 1916 and 1994 is an uneven one: an office on the books since 1916 at 2513 Fresno St and one added in 1994 rarely run to the same layout, staffing or counter service, even under one brand and one sign.

Across Fresno's 9 branch ZIP codes, 93720 holds 2, 93702 holds one, 93704 holds one, 93705 holds one and 93711 holds one, with 4 further ZIP codes holding the rest. 93720 is the one to try first in Fresno: 2 offices there means a second counter the same afternoon if the first says no, where the 8 single-branch ZIPs give you one attempt and then a written escalation.

Office by office, the FDIC establishment years in Fresno read 1916, 1947, 1956, 1958, 1959, 1959, 1971, 1977, and 2 more. 1959 accounts for 2 of them on its own, an arrival in one transaction, not a build-out.

On the FDIC record in Fresno alongside 2513 Fresno St: 4445 E Tulare St, 5292 N Palm Ave and 3435 N Cedar Ave. Name the street in a complaint: "4445 E Tulare St" survives being passed between departments in a way "my Fresno branch" does not.

Establishment dates are the FDIC's date of record for each banking office. That date follows the office through mergers and acquisitions, so an early date means a bank branch has operated at that address since then, not that Bank of America itself has been there that long.

What I observed (rewards program)

This is the section that moved my BoA experience from frustration to genuinely suspicious. In my experience, rewards I expected did not credit to my account. I set up auto-redeem AND manually requested redemptions on multiple occasions. Neither path produced a deposit I could see. I contacted support, followed every step, and from my perspective, nothing reached my account.

Rewards were also central to the CFPB's 2023 enforcement order, which cited Bank of America for withholding credit-card rewards. That is the public-record counterpart to what I describe above. A Fresno customer who believes rewards did not credit has a documented precedent to reference in a complaint, and 37,169 CA filings already sitting in that database.

What CA customers report, and where Fresno sits in it

Fresno's 10 branches are 1.5% of the 686 Bank of America branches in CA, the 6th-largest share of the 50 CA cities in this guide. Against that footprint, CA consumers have filed 37,169 CFPB complaints against Bank of America, 12,490 since January 2023, 6,539 since January 2025, or about 54 lifetime filings for every branch the bank runs in the state.

"Mortgage" leads the CA file at 9,553, then "Checking or savings account" at 9,385; the most-reported issue is "Managing an account" at 6,117. None is tagged to Fresno (the CFPB records by state), but a filing of your own, with dates and amounts attached, is what turns one account's problem into a pattern.

Whether 10 is a lot depends on what it sits beside: the nearest CA footprints in this guide are Sacramento with 14 and Anaheim with 8.

The file carries no ZIP or city field, so what locates a Fresno filing is what you type into it. The Fresno branches on the FDIC record are 2513 Fresno St, 4445 E Tulare St, 5292 N Palm Ave and 3435 N Cedar Ave, and 2 more; name the one you banked at, with its ZIP (93702, 93704, 93705, 93711 and 93720 and 3 more), in the narrative box.

Escalating from Fresno, in order

Each step produces the evidence the next one expects, so the order matters more than the volume. From Fresno, with 10 branches to work with, it runs like this:

  1. Use a second branch before you escalate anywhere. Fresno has 10 branches across Fresno County, so if one refuses to resolve something, another is the cheapest next step and costs you nothing but the trip.
  2. Get it in writing with the bank first: a secure message is dated and quotable, a phone call is not. Name the office in it (2513 Fresno St is the oldest on the FDIC record in Fresno); "my branch" is not a reference anyone can look up. No Fresno office entered the FDIC record between 1916 and 1947.
  3. File with the CFPB at consumerfinance.gov/complaint, free, public, answered on the record, and it joins 37,169 filings already logged from CA.
  4. File in parallel with California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI), which supervises banks operating in Fresno and carries weight a federal queue does not.
  5. Chasing a dormant balance rather than a dispute? Different office: California State Controller: Unclaimed Property.
