Bank of America keeps no branch in San Angelo, one of the 150 TX cities in this guide that holds none of the bank's 313 locations statewide. TX consumers have filed 12,923 CFPB complaints against it, 3,180 of them since January 2025. One customer's experience, mine, set beside what the bank measurably looks like in San Angelo.
Bank of America's footprint in San Angelo
The FDIC has no Bank of America branch on file in San Angelo. Statewide, BoA operates 313 branches across TX, concentrated in places like Houston (48 branches), Dallas (26 branches), San Antonio (22 branches). For a San Angelo customer that is the single most important practical fact on this page: your Bank of America relationship is effectively a remote one.
Remote-only changes what to plan for. Cash deposits mean an out-of-network ATM or a trip. Anything a bank normally resolves face to face (a signature guarantee, a notarised form, a contested charge that a representative wants to "see in branch") has to be handled in writing or by travelling. Before opening or keeping an account here, it is worth checking whether a bank with local branches, or one built to be fully remote, fits San Angelo better.

Branch counts are Bank of America locations on file with the FDIC (certificate 3510) under each city label; New York City and its boroughs are counted by FDIC county. Postal city labels do not always match municipal boundaries, so treat a zero as "none on file under this city label".
What I observed (fees experience)
In my experience, the fees were relentless. From my perspective, the bank found every possible excuse to chip away at the balance. Maintenance fees waived only on conditions I had to actively manage. Wire fees on the higher end of the market. ATM-network fees in places where the partner network had thinned. Customer service offered, in my view, zero structural solutions.
The TX complaint file is led by "Checking or savings account" issues (3,946 complaints), which is where fee disputes land. If you want the published fee schedule and the waiver thresholds rather than my experience of them, the fee breakdown for San Angelo is the better page.

What TX customers report, and where San Angelo sits in it
San Angelo holds none of the 313 Bank of America branches in TX, which puts it 134th of the 150 TX cities in this guide. Against that footprint, TX consumers have filed 12,923 CFPB complaints against Bank of America, 5,476 since January 2023, 3,180 since January 2025, or about 41 lifetime filings for every branch the bank runs in the state.
"Checking or savings account" leads the TX file at 3,946, then "Mortgage" at 2,316; the most-reported issue is "Managing an account" at 2,325. Complaints are recorded by state, not by city, so none is tagged to San Angelo, but they describe the same institution, and a filing of your own with dates and amounts attached is what turns one account's problem into a pattern.
