Bank of America keeps 13 branches in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, 5th of the 150 TX cities in this guide, out of 313 statewide. TX consumers have filed 12,923 CFPB complaints against it, 3,180 of them since January 2025. One customer's experience, mine, set beside what the bank measurably looks like in Fort Worth.
Bank of America's footprint in Fort Worth
Bank of America has 13 branches on file with the FDIC in Fort Worth in Tarrant County. That is 4.2% of the 313 BoA branches across TX, spread over 37 TX counties in total, and it ranks Fort Worth 5th of the 150 TX cities covered in this guide. They sit across 12 different ZIP codes, so "your" branch and the next-nearest one are not necessarily the same errand.
At 13 locations, in-person service is realistic here: notarisation, cashier's cheques, medallion signature guarantees and disputed-transaction paperwork can all be done locally, and if one branch will not resolve something you can simply walk into another. The same is true just outside Fort Worth: Dallas (26 branches), Plano (7 branches), Frisco (6 branches), Arlington (5 branches); so a refusal here is rarely the end of the in-person route.

Branch counts are Bank of America locations on file with the FDIC (certificate 3510) under each city label; New York City and its boroughs are counted by FDIC county. Postal city labels do not always match municipal boundaries, so treat a zero as "none on file under this city label".
How long Bank of America has been in Fort Worth
Bank of America's Fort Worth footprint is not all one vintage: the oldest office on file dates to 1870, the newest to 2022, 152 years apart. The early end of that range is inherited banking history at 305 Commerce St (an establishment date follows an office through mergers) rather than Bank of America's own tenure in Fort Worth.
Those branches are spread over ZIP codes 76102, 76105, 76107, 76109 and 76111 and 3 more. Queues, staffing and how much a manager will authorise are not uniform across Fort Worth: 305 Commerce St, 5651 E Lancaster Ave and 4751 S Hulen St are separate offices with separate managers, so a refusal at one of them is that counter's answer and not Fort Worth's.
Practically, a Fort Worth footprint assembled between 1870 and 2022 is an uneven one: an office on the books since 1870 at 305 Commerce St and one added in 2022 rarely run to the same layout, staffing or counter service, even under one brand and one sign.
Across Fort Worth's 12 branch ZIP codes, 76244 holds 2, 76102 holds one, 76105 holds one, 76107 holds one and 76109 holds one, with 7 further ZIP codes holding the rest. 76244 is the one to try first in Fort Worth: 2 offices there means a second counter the same afternoon if the first says no, where the 11 single-branch ZIPs give you one attempt and then a written escalation.
Office by office, the FDIC establishment years in Fort Worth read 1870, 1913, 1926, 1950, 1951, 1960, 1986, 1987, and 5 more. 2022 accounts for 2 of them on its own, an arrival in one transaction, not a build-out.
On the FDIC record in Fort Worth alongside 305 Commerce St: 5651 E Lancaster Ave, 4751 S Hulen St and 6360 Camp Bowie Blvd. Name the street in a complaint: "5651 E Lancaster Ave" survives being passed between departments in a way "my Fort Worth branch" does not.

Establishment dates are the FDIC's date of record for each banking office. That date follows the office through mergers and acquisitions, so an early date means a bank branch has operated at that address since then, not that Bank of America itself has been there that long.
What I observed (account closure)
If you are getting ready to close a BoA account, do it in writing, not over the phone alone. Keep the closure confirmation. Some customers report follow-on fees on accounts they thought were closed. Open the new account first. Migrate inflows, then outflows. Keep BoA funded for 60-90 days as a buffer.
If you close from Fort Worth, keep the written confirmation, "Managing an account" is the leading complaint category in TX's Bank of America file, and post-closure billing disputes sit inside it. Texas Department of Banking accepts TX complaints if a closed account keeps generating charges.

What TX customers report, and where Fort Worth sits in it
Fort Worth's 13 branches are 4.2% of the 313 Bank of America branches in TX, the 5th-largest share of the 150 TX cities in this guide. Against that footprint, TX consumers have filed 12,923 CFPB complaints against Bank of America, 5,476 since January 2023, 3,180 since January 2025, or about 41 lifetime filings for every branch the bank runs in the state.
"Checking or savings account" leads the TX file at 3,946, then "Mortgage" at 2,316; the most-reported issue is "Managing an account" at 2,325. None is tagged to Fort Worth (the CFPB records by state), but a filing of your own, with dates and amounts attached, is what turns one account's problem into a pattern.
Whether 13 is a lot depends on what it sits beside: the nearest TX footprints in this guide are Austin with 20 and Katy with 8.
The file carries no ZIP or city field, so what locates a Fort Worth filing is what you type into it. The Fort Worth branches on the FDIC record are 305 Commerce St, 5651 E Lancaster Ave, 4751 S Hulen St and 6360 Camp Bowie Blvd, and 2 more; name the one you banked at, with its ZIP (76102, 76105, 76107, 76109 and 76111 and 3 more), in the narrative box.

Each step produces the evidence the next one expects, so the order matters more than the volume. From Fort Worth, with 13 branches to work with, it runs like this:
- Use a second branch before you escalate anywhere. Fort Worth has 13 branches across Tarrant County, so if one refuses to resolve something, another is the cheapest next step and costs you nothing but the trip.
- Get it in writing with the bank first: a secure message is dated and quotable, a phone call is not. Name the office in it (305 Commerce St is the oldest on the FDIC record in Fort Worth); "my branch" is not a reference anyone can look up. No Fort Worth office entered the FDIC record between 1870 and 1913.
- File with the CFPB at consumerfinance.gov/complaint, free, public, answered on the record, and it joins 12,923 filings already logged from TX.
- File in parallel with Texas Department of Banking, which supervises banks operating in Fort Worth and carries weight a federal queue does not.
- Chasing a dormant balance rather than a dispute? Different office: Texas Comptroller: ClaimItTexas.
