NY consumers have filed 12,190 CFPB complaints against it, 2,465 of them since January 2025. One customer's experience, mine, set beside what the bank measurably looks like in Bronx.

How long Bank of America has been in Bronx

Bank of America's Bronx footprint is not all one vintage: the oldest office on file dates to 1916, the newest to 2022, 106 years apart. The early end of that range is inherited banking history at 329 A East 149th Street (an establishment date follows an office through mergers) rather than Bank of America's own tenure in Bronx.

Those branches are spread over ZIP codes 10451, 10458, 10461, 10462 and 10463 and 3 more. Queues, staffing and how much a manager will authorise are not uniform across Bronx: 329 A East 149th Street, 3508 Johnson Ave and 65 Metropolitan Oval are separate offices with separate managers, so a refusal at one of them is that counter's answer and not Bronx's.

Establishment dates are the FDIC's date of record for each banking office. That date follows the office through mergers and acquisitions, so an early date means a bank branch has operated at that address since then, not that Bank of America itself has been there that long.

What I observed (business accounts)

On business accounts: BoA’s product menu is wide. Business Advantage Fundamentals carries a $16/mo fee waived only with $5,000 average balance or qualifying activity. Wire fees apply at roughly $30 outgoing domestic per BoA’s public schedule. For a small business that wants the cheapest viable account with clean software, software-driven banks like Mercury or Relay match the use case better.

For a Bronx business, the relevant local fact is 11 branches on file, cash-handling businesses should weigh that against a fully remote alternative before committing.
